Key Notes

1、EU mandatory requirements for medical devices must pass CE certification, to prove that it meets the safety, health and environmental standards. Medical cosmetic devices usually belong to Class IIa, IIb or III medical devices, which need to complete the submission of technical documents, clinical evaluation and quality management system audit.
2、If it involves innovative or special use, it is necessary to submit a registration application to the French National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products (ANSM), providing technical documents, clinical data, and so on.
3、Product labels and instructions must be provided in French, containing the purpose, risk warning, use and manufacturer information. Failure to comply with the labeling may result in the goods being detained or returned.

List of Required Materials

1、Commercial invoice (indicating the value of goods, trade terms, country of origin, etc.), packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin (CO or Form A).
2、Technical documents: product technical parameters, safety assessment report (to comply with the EU cosmetics regulations EC 1223/2009), CE certificate, ANSM registration documents.
3、Wooden packaging should be labeled with IPPC logo, non-wooden packaging should comply with French environmental standards.

Common risk avoidance

1.Time planning: the goods need to be declared within 3 days after arrival in France, late may be confiscated. Customs duty (EU harmonized rate) and VAT (French rate) need to be paid.
