Business Background

The client is a cultural and art company in Shanghai. After communication, we learned that the client has a batch of cultural artworks that will be shipped to Frankfurt, Germany for the exhibition in November, and will be shipped back to China after the exhibition. Since the customer went abroad to participate in the cultural and art exchange exhibition for the first time, he did not know much about the logistics and transportation links. Our salesman gave a detailed and professional answer, formulated a logistics plan, handled the ATA carnet as an agent, and finally successfully helped the customer to complete the round-trip cargo transportation.

Business Difficulties and Solutions

(1) This exhibition of cultural artworks has the approval of the Ministry of Culture, but the client does not know how to transport these artworks to Germany, and the time is tight, and the Mid-Autumn Festival National Day holiday is approaching, the time is tight and the task is heavy. Shipping Whale Logistics organized logistics experts, carefully designed a detailed logistics plan, coordinated the human resources in Shanghai, followed up at every level, and finally made customs declaration and release at the scheduled time.

(2) After the exhibition, the goods will be transported back to China again, which is a temporary import and export and requires ATA documents. However, there are many kinds of artworks in this batch, and it is difficult to handle them. According to the requirements of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade,  Shipping Whale organizes the list of goods, and indicates the creation year, material, value, weight and size of each work, and obtains the ATA carnet after 3 working days.

(3) Germans are known for their rigorous and conscientious work, and their requirements for customs clearance documents are also very strict. Therefore, Shipping Whale clearly displays the English product name, customs code, model and number of all exhibits on the invoice/packing list. Gross/net weight, volume, unit price/total price, etc.

(4) Regarding the value of the exhibits, usually foreign countries require that the value of the goods on the proforma invoice is the CIF price, that is, the actual value of the goods plus insurance and freight, which is commonly referred to as the CIF price. The collection of tariffs is ultimately based on the CIF value determined by the customs of the destination country to collect tariffs. For exhibitors, the actual value of the exhibits must be declared truthfully. If the value of the exhibits is deliberately depreciated, it will not be accepted by the German customs, which will cause the customs to re-evaluate and even impose a fine. As a result, the customs clearance time of the exhibits is prolonged, and even the customs clearance cannot be timely.

(5) Europe requires fumigation treatment before shipment for packaging materials containing logs, and a fumigation certificate is attached to the outer packaging box, otherwise the exhibits will not be able to be successfully cleared through customs or will be returned to the original exporting country by the customs of the destination country. Shipping Whale Logistics helps customers use fumigation-free materials as packaging materials (or include some materials that require fumigation) to avoid unnecessary troubles in foreign customs clearance.

Client Feedback

"The business operation is very professional, and there are no problems. It is the first time to go abroad to participate in a cultural and art exchange exhibition without any experience. In the early stage, I was very worried that the goods would not go out. Shipping Whale Logistics helped us handle it first-hand, the required documents were well prepared, and the goods were transported very smoothly without damage. It is really worry-free and labor-saving to cooperate with Shipping Whale International Logistics!"
